Every once in a while (usually after you’ve modified a Polaris Playlist directly and then are re-exporting the playlists from ProTrack) Polaris Play: Playlist (PPP) can become FUBAR (excuse the language). At this point, it is a good idea to either put up a “Technical Difficulties” slate or load a clip from another media port and take that to air because correcting this can take 30 seconds to a few minutes and you’ll need to take the play out channel to black. The most expedient thing to do is kill the playlist in PPP and then re-export the playlist in ProTrack again.
Clearing the Playlist
Make sure that Control Mode is turned on. In the picture below it is off (all other buttons are grey). Click the Control Mode button, to enable Control Mode.
Next you’ll select Playlist Control | Clear… (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+C)
It will ask you for confirmation that you want to clear the list and take the channel to black. Say yes.
Re-export ProTrack Playlist
Next you’ll want to start up ProTrack if it isn’t already. Select Logs | Automation Interface | Harmonic BXF Play-List.
It will present you with the Generate Playlist dialogue. Select the date (it should default to today’s date which in this case is what you want). Select KTOO – 360N as the channel for which to export. Then select OK on the Multi-channel dialogue, then OK on the Generate Playlist dialogue to export the playlist.
It should take about 20 seconds or so and you should see the PPP playlist populate and then an image return to Media Port 7 (the play out channel). It should join in progress whatever piece of media would have been playing at this time. I don’t remember if when you select “Clear” if it takes the channel to “Offline Mode” or not, but if you notice that “Offline Mode” is activated and don’t see an image within about 20 seconds after you see the playlist load, try clicking the “Offline Mode” button again to put it back Online. You can now safely switch back to Automation for play out.
