Restart Rx A-D Once A Week
As part of 360 North’s acquisition of programming we have four Ericsson receivers that are dedicated to specific PBS satellites channels which feed programs on a set calendar schedule. From time-to-time these receivers can experience difficulties and need to be restarted. It generally manifests in shows recording with video, but no audio. In these cases, the receivers need to be rebooted, however we’ve found that by restarting them routinely as a matter of course, it reduces the amount of times this happens. So it is recommended to restart them about once a week. To do that, you will need a browser within our intranet. There are two steps: 1) Check the record schedule for an adequate window of time to do this; 2) Navigate to the receiver via the web and reboot the receiver (or physically cycle the receiver). Below are the details for each step:
Check Harmonic Manager Record Schedule
Before rebooting any receiver, you should double check the record schedule for the day to make sure there aren’t any recordings scheduled during the time you want to reboot. (This takes about 5 minutes, so you don’t need a large window of time).
Go to the Harmonic Manager machine in ECR and look at the day’s timeline for both MP4-SD and MP5-SD to be sure you have a big enough window of time to do this. In the example below there would be plenty of time to do this.

Each receiver requires authentication. Please check with David or Kelli for the current username/password. Click on the link below to go to each receiver.

Rebooting RX8200 Receivers
Once you’re on the page in the browser you should be able to go to the “Device Info” tab and the click on the “Reboot Unit” button.
Once the receiver comes back online, you should see something like this (with a green bar) indicating that the receiver is in good condition. If it is orange or red, after about a minute or two, you may need to try a physical restart.
If a Physical Restart is Required
Sometimes the unit is not responsive to a restart via the web in which case you need to physically go to that receiver and cycle the power on it (or it is just easier to do it this way if you’re near them). They are located downstairs in Engineering KTOO-TV Transmission Room (105) on the last rack on your left (labeled either with a proper label or a sticky note – pictured below).
Because there are no power switches or buttons on these machines, in the back of each unit, unplug the Receiver (count to 10) and then plug it back in again.
