Create a Slideshow (default image size)

Note: this method will crop your slide images to a pre-defined size. To control the size/aspect ratio of the images, use this guide to create a slideshow with custom image sizes


Click “Add Media” (just like adding an image):

Click “Create Gallery” on the left

Upload or select the photos you want in the slideshow (just like when inserting images normally from the Media Library)

Click “Create a new gallery” in the lower right

Optional: In the “Edit Gallery” screen, click on the icon in the upper right to remove an image, or click and drag anywhere else on the image to change the order

Click “Insert gallery” in the lower right

Click on the “Text” tab in the upper right of the post

Find the [gallery] shortcode in the post

Add the following code after [gallery]:

 soliloquy="true"

Make sure there is a space before and after the code.

Continue editing your post as you normally would.

You can switch back to the "Visual" tab at any time.

Preview and publish your post as normal.

More information:

  • All slideshows share common default settings
  • Captions come from the caption in the Media Library (i.e., you can’t set a caption just for the slideshow unless you create a customized slideshow).
  • You cannot change the dimensions or the aspect ratio of this slide show (but you can create a customized slideshow if you want). Make sure you check that the default cropping works with your images (you can custom-crop them if you want: the slider uses an aspect ratio of 13:8).
