Log in at www.ktoo.org/wp-admin/
On the left hand menu under “Events,” click “Add New Event
Enter a title for the event (the headline on the web site).
Shorter is better – what will best catch someone’s interest? (They can always click for more detail).
Enter a description for your event. This is the detail people will see when they click on the title.
Some ideas of information to include:
- What: what is the event and what should attendees expect in terms of format? (For example, is it a lecture? A concert? An art showing? Don’t assume people are already familiar with the series or format!)
- Price: ticket price
- Tickets: how to get tickets if required (with a link!)
- Doors: the time the doors open (as opposed to actual start time – see below)
- Links: relevant links (e.g., artist web site)
- Other details: any details that tell people why they would want to go – think about it from the point of view of someone who has never heard about the event.
Optional: Scroll down and enter a subtitle for your event.
This will show up under the title in the list of events. It should be a very brief phrase – less than a sentence.
Scroll down and enter a start date and time (the actual start of the event, not when the doors open).
Important: Enter an end date and time
The day/time when the event will stop being shown (do not leave it blank or the event won’t show up at all).
Select a saved location from the dropdown.
If it’s at a new location that hasn’t been used before, enter the name and address (these will be used to generate a map).
Optional: In the right hand column, click “Set featured image”
This image will be cropped to a roughly square thumbnail for the event listing, so anything near the edges might get lost.
Optional: Schedule the post
- Next to “Publish immediately” click the “Edit” link (at the upper right, just above the “Publish” button)
This will control when the event listing will appear – starting it too early might mean people are ignoring it by the time the event gets close.

- Enter the date/time the event will be published
Note: the time is in 24-hour (military) time.

- Click “OK” to save the publish time.

Click “Schedule” at the upper right when you are ready for your event to go live (or “Publish” if you are publishing your event immediately instead of scheduling it)
Always check the web site to make sure the event shows up correctly (it should be on the home page in the right hand column above the ads).
