How to “Ripple Out” a Prime-time Block to the Schedule (Using a Template) in ProTrack

The meat of the schedule for 360 North is done in the prime-time block which goes from 2000 – 2300.  Once you’ve filled in that block for a given week, it is easy to fill in most of the most of the rest of the schedule using the template feature. Below are the steps involved in doing this.

From the main menu, select Programs | Air Date Maintenance | Add Air from Template Schedule

This will present the Add Air Dates from Default Schedule (which is selected in a different place and will vary depending upon whether we’re in a Legislative Session, or general broadcast time and covered in a different article).

From this dialogue, select the Channel (KTOO – 360N), and the starting/ending dates for which you wish to “ripple out”.  (I generally go from Sunday to Sunday otherwise the block for early Sunday morning will not be filled in and the report you send to ROVI etc., will be missing from midnight to 5am on that Sunday).

Confirm that you want to Begin Scheduling (this can take a few seconds). Then confirm that you want to Report Results/Errors Only. This will give you a list of air dates for which it had difficulty. The report will look like the following. Some of the items (highlighted as an example) you will need to copy manually. A template will only copy programs from within the same week you are working. Since our schedule will re-air something from the previous week, those need to be copied manually (covered in a different article). Other errors you will need to look at individually to determine what the problem was.
