Create a Slideshow (custom image sizes)

Selecting different values from the “Image Size” dropdown will change how the slideshow treats image sizes

ImageSizeDropdown

There are a three common options:

1) To preserve different aspect ratios for different slides, leave the default of “Extra Large” selected

Note: this means that the slideshow could change height as  viewers navigate between slides – everything below the slideshow will move up and down the page to follow the slideshow height

2) To preserve different aspect ratios, but keep the height from being too tall, select “Soliloquy Slide Resized”. Often works well if you have some very narrow images in the slideshow – it keeps the slideshow from being too tall while also preventing extreme center cropping of tall images.

Note: the height could still change between slides.

3) To crop all images to the same exact dimensions, choose “Default” from the “Image Size” dropdown and enter those dimensions (as pixels) in the “Slider Dimensions” boxes below

Important: if you use this step or enter custom dimensions on KTOO.org, you must move the images from S3 for it to work properly. Check with David Purdy or follow these instructions (advanced – proceed with caution!)

If necessary, crop before uploading: Sometimes none of the above options work well (especially with significantly different aspects ratios). The best approach in this case is often to crop all the images to the same aspect ratio in a program like Photoshop before uploading them and then use option (1) above.

When you’re done, click the “Publish” or “Update” button in the upper right.

Publish

Update

After you have published the slideshow, click the “Add Slider” button in any post or page to browse all available slideshows (including the one you just created).

SliderShortcode

Alternative: after publishing the slideshow, copy one of the shortcodes from the “Soliloquy Slider Code” box (on the right, under the “Publish”/”Update” button)

You can use the “Copy to Clipboard” link under either slideshow to copy the shortcode.

Either of the top two shortcodes will work (they do the same thing) – just make sure you don’t copy one of the codes from further down. The shortcode should start with “[soliloquy”
